National Restaurant Trends – UNVEILING OF THE IPHONE 6------------------------------------------------------------GREEN SCENE------------------------------------------------------------DO YOU KNOW YOUR FOOD PRINT?For years we have heard the words "carbon footprint" and how that very thing from each and everyone of us effects climate change. It's judged by everything from the car you drive to the aerosol can found in your bathroom. How we prepare food and operate a restaurant has its effects as well. Welcome to your "foodprint." Zero Foodprint is a non-profit founded and led by Chris Ying, carbon emissions expert Peter Freed, and Chef Anthony Myint, and it's turning some heads. Starting to take shape in San Francisco and Northern California, Zero Foodprint could find its way to the culinary hotspot of Charleston.http://eater.com/archives/2014/09/05/zero-foodprint-chris-ying-restaurant-climate-change.php------------------------------------------------------------LOCAL RESTAURANT NEWS------------------------------------------------------------MIDNIGHT CLOSING FIGHT RAGES ON IN DOWNTOWN CHARLESTONThe downtown food and beverage industry is not happy about the proposed ordinance that would establish a moratorium on new bars wishing to close after midnight. Now Mayor Joe Riley is creating a task force to study the safety and trends of bars and restaurants open after midnight.http://www.dailyjournal.net/view/story/d038df765797474badbaf6e01f2054d8/SC--Bar-Closing-Rules/------------------------------------------------------------RESTAURANT OPENINGS, CLOSINGS + COMING SOON!The following list reflects 3rd Quarter 2014 market activity (July - September, 2014):OPENINGS --78 Degrees West (Mt. Restaurants and bars scattered around Charleston have embraced Square payments, and a handful are using iPads and iPhones as ordering tools. Yet the concept of replacing all the cards and cash in your wallet with your phone has always been the peak of that idea. Apple unveiled the new iPhone, and it seems that the future may be here.http://www.restaurant.org/Pressroom/Press-Releases/National-Restaurant-Association-Mobile-Payment-Tec
